THE CWG

WHAT IS THE CWG //

The Center for Women and Gender (CWG), is located on Utah State University campus and has been since its start in 2010. The CWG is an academic unit that provides scholarships and grants.  Helping Hands, the Brown Bag Series and the Perspectives Club for students is also a part of the center. This club pushes for gender equality and equity. The CWG also offers a minor program of 18 credits, a certificate which is 24 credits, and a graduate program. Overall, the mission of the CWG is to find social justice, create intersectionality, provide education, conduct research, and advocate for all genders.

THE ROLE I PLAYED //

For the fall 2017 semester I had the opportunity to manage the centers social media platforms. The centers goal was to bring awareness to Utah State University faculty, staff, and students about the CWG’s opportunities and mission. I began with the creation of a business plan using present successful tools and addressing concerns.  The implantation of the plan consisted of social media content centered on the CWG’s push of promoting gender equality and equity. Through this experience I learned how to engage an audience and how to analyze the reach, frequency, and engagement through the different tools available for social media.
